Unlocking Research for Real-World Impact

Air Support Project’s Open Air Scholar tackles a vital challenge: how do we make the latest air quality research not just available—but truly useful?

Built to accelerate impact, Open Air Scholar uses advanced AI to break down open-access, peer-reviewed studies into clear, practical insights. Whether you’re an educator improving ventilation, a clinician managing indoor exposures, or a policymaker drafting guidelines—Open Air Scholar helps you move faster, smarter, and with confidence.

What is air support Project's open air scholar?

Our Open Air Scholar is a live, growing feed of curated, AI-summarized research on indoor air, respiratory health, filtration, and environmental exposure. Every summary is transparent, grounded in public science, and designed to empower action.

It’s not just about access—it’s about acceleration.

By bridging the science of AI with the science of clean air, Open Air Scholar helps turn knowledge into momentum.

How is our open air scholar useful?

Two-Tiered Summaries: Read at a Glance or Dive Deeper
Every research paper comes with both a TL;DR summary for quick insights and a long-form summary that goes into more depth, still far shorter than the original paper, but rich with key findings, implications, and context.

Built for Accessibility, Not Just Academics
We’ve reduced the steep learning curve. These summaries are written in plain language so that non-specialists can grasp the core ideas, without losing the precision or credibility of the original work.

Better AI Summaries Through Smarter Engineering
This isn’t a generic chatbot summarizing links. We use a curated ensemble of top-tier large language models, chosen through hands-on evaluation. Our system processes longer texts through a chunking and hierarchical summarization method, allowing us to handle multi-section papers with more accuracy than standard one-shot summarizers.

Faster Research, Without the Guesswork
For our team and our community, this means we can track and digest research faster, without sacrificing understanding. It’s particularly helpful when dealing with high volumes of new studies, as is often the case in environmental health and public policy.

Easy to Share, Easy to Use
You can link to summaries, quote them, use them in presentations, or pass them along to your networks. Scholar makes it easier to spread evidence-based ideas, supporting informed dialogue in classrooms, clinics, city halls, and homes.

why did we built our opEN AIR scholar?

Open Air Scholar isn’t a replacement for deeper research, it’s a force multiplier. It helps us write better, make faster decisions, and stay current with the science that shapes our work.

Our goal is simple: turn open-access science into open-access understanding.

When people can clearly see what the evidence says, they’re empowered to act on it—and that’s how we move from research to real-world change.

Welcome to the future of accessible, actionable science.

what's in the air we breathe?

On average, we breathe 6 liters every minute, mainly indoors. Indoor air quality is often worse than outdoor air which underscores our need for cleaner air and safer spaces. Our air is made up of microparticles such as dust, pollen, mold, viruses, pet dander, and VOCs. These particles can enter our bloodstream through our lungs after we inhale them. The air we breathe impacts our daily and long-term well-being and health. Follow us at Air Support Project. We want you to know better so you can breathe better.
